Do you want to know the secret to a stronger, more resilient mindset?  Over the next few weeks, I will be sharing the intrinsic gifts we all have.  By practicing the 5 “G’s”  Gratitude, Generosity, Growth, Grit, and Grace each day you can build a healthier thought process leading to a more purposeful positive life.
As we explore the 5 “G” to a stronger mindset you must not only unwrap these intrinsic gifts but put them to use to benefit from them
Our first “G” is Gratitude. It is defined by the dictionary as “The quality of being thankful; readiness to show appreciation for and to return the kindness.”
Imagine if you started every day by counting your blessings? Your mindset would shift to one of thanksgiving and appreciation and your focus will change to look for the good instead of what we feel like we don’t have.
One of the classes I lead at my boutique gym is called M.E.P.S Full Body Experience. It starts with journaling and each week it has a theme. Last week we focused on gratitude. I asked the ladies to write down what they are thankful for and appreciate in their life. One participant shared that she struggles with this concept. She has three young kids, a troubled marriage, and working full time as a nurse. She shared with the group that she needs to shift her focus to what she is grateful for instead of all the things in her life that are overwhelming her and causing anxiety. She left the class with a fresh perspective and a new attitude. This is the idea. If we shift our mindset to one of gratitude we will find more to be thankful for. As one of my mentors, Zig Ziglar states “The greatest source of happiness is the ability to be grateful at all times”.
This is Not Always Easy
As I shared previously, I lost my son Steven at the age of nine months to a horrible genetic disease. What I found to be helpful through my grieving and sadness was to express thankfulness for even the smallest things like my in-laws driving several hours to be with us or a donation someone made in his memory.

Today what are you thankful for?

Write it down and feel free to share it with us!
