It’s the time of the year to start thinking about what to get Moms for Mother’s Day! But what do you get the woman who has it all or didn’t give you any hints on what to get her for Mother’s Day?
Our contributors and partners have come up with a few ideas for what to get other local moms for their special day from local and mom-owned businesses in or near the state.
Why Shop Local?
When you shop local, you’re deciding to make a personal investment in your area. In fact, for every $100 spent, roughly $68 to $73 of it returns to local activity.
Then those dollars are recycled into the community yet again as those locally-owned businesses purchase from service providers, farms, and other local businesses. That circle of money helps our state’s tax base and stimulates Delaware’s economy. (Which means more money in our state yay!)
Gift’s Delaware Moms Would Love
These are gifts our contributors think the mom in your life would love! And we know because we’re local moms just like they are!
A Clean Home
Grab your cleaning supplies and get to cleaning. Let mom wake up to a home with no messes and sparkling mirrors. OR have someone else clean your home for mom for a month (or more!). We err on the side of more but there is nothing better than a clean home on Mother’s Day and a bit of peace.
Pampering at Home
A massage and/or facial in the comfort of your own home sounds like a dream come true right? Find a traveling massage therapist or aesthetician to make it happen! It’s okay if the massage or facial can’t happen on Mother’s Day but you can make a nice little “coupon” for Mom letting her know it’s coming so she can decide when she wants the pampering to happen.
Take the Educational Pressure Off
For moms doing virtual learning the end of the year could be pretty stressful! A little help could be great. Get the kids a tutor to help and let mom take a break from helping with homework and virtual learning. If you’re in New Castle County, Tutoring Center in Bear can help with just the thing! They offer in-person, 1-on-1 Tutoring and Academic Programs for students K-12. Helping your child to develop stronger academic skills and earn better grades to finish the year strong.
A yummy meal outside (that she doesn’t have to prepare or clean up after) can be a nice treat! Cook a meal of her favorites or have it catered with a nice DIY setup. We have a few ideas for a setup on our Pinterest Board!
A Unique Gift
Spend a day a the beach and looking at the unique shops in Rehoboth! For moms who like the mystical why not visit Lit By the Sea and let mom pick her own gift of a tarot reading and crystals? Lit by the Sea is a unique gift shop featuring candles, salsa, essential oils, teas, and handcrafted items. They have bath and body items, artwork, tarot, crystals, and dream catchers!
For Grownups Only
This next idea won’t be a gift from the kids! But Delaware Dads this one is for you… *wink* The gift of a little bedroom fun. Kandi Koated/Bedroom Kandi is a luxury, lifestyle brand the specializes in cosmetics, bath & body and sexual wellness.
Delaware Moms Swag
And lastly… we couldn’t help but add a shameless plug here for Delaware Moms Swag! What about an awesome Delaware Moms Mug or Hoodie (we aren’t biased at all but we sell them so they have to be great)
Here are other local businesses that could make great gifts for Mother’s Day and are local!
